Converts Volkswagen CAN bus and Audi CAN bus signals into conventional outputs

Starting with the MK4 Volkswagens in 1998, Volkswagen started to use the CAN bus protocol to send information from the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to the Instrument Pod as opposed to using individual wires as they did in previous generations of vehicles.

As a result, ECUs started to lack critical wiring to connect things such as the Check Engine Light or the Tachometer.

In most areas that require government vehicle inspections, they require a functioning Check Engine Light in order to pass. The issue is some of these excellent motors can not be legally used in these areas as there is no physical wire to connect a Check Engine Light to. Some later ECU don't even have a Tachometer signal wire or Coolant Temperature wire!

Our signal processor will enable you to have these missing 'old school' connections on these modern engines so that you can pass inspection and retain the gauges you are used to having.

CAN2LED
Provides you with Glow Plug Light (K29) / Engine Power Control Light (K132) and Check Engine Light (K83) LED outputs.

The output of CAN2LED is a switched ground that can safely handle up to 4W of power. This means that you can control both low power LEDs or conventional 4W incandescent dash bulbs if that is what your dash uses. The Volkswagen "ALH" ECUs have wiring for these lights but they are designed to for "logic level" current and cannot power incandescent bulbs directly without damaging the ECU. LEDs on earlier ECUs will also anoyingly glow without additional circuitry even if they are "off". CAN2LED eliminates all these issues!

Six simple connections! 12V switched, Ground, CAN bus high, CAN bus low, Glow Plug and Check engine!

CAN2DASH-
CAN2DASH has the same features as CAN2LED plus Tachometer output. On many 2004 and later ECUs the Tachometer wire is physically missing - problem solved!

At the flick of a switch, the Tachometer signal can be adjusted between 4, 6 and 8 cylinders. We can custom make the tachometer frequency what ever you would like, so for example 5 cylinder operation for Audi.

CAN2VWDASH
CAN2VWDASH has the same features as CAN2DASH- except it is designed to drive tachometers that were original controlled by an ignition coil. Vehices include pre 1997 Toyota Puckup / 4Runner and most pre 1993 Volkswagens

CAN2DASH
Same features as CAN2DASH- with the additon of a Coolant Gauge output.

The Coolant Gauge output is designed for factory gauges that use resistive sensors that use 5V to 12V signaling. The Coolant Gauge signal is also configurable at a push of a button and a turn of a knob so that you can make the normal operating temperature of 90C be where ever you want to on the gauge.

CAN2DASH+
CAN2DASH+ has the same features as CAN2DASH plus a speedometer output!

This signal processor is designed so that you feed the ECU directly with a VSS signal and it doesn't have to be dead on accurate. This will allow for custom tire sizes or a non-accurate VSS inputs, etc. Not having totally accurate speed value represented in the ECU is fine for Cruise Control use, but not so good if we want to accurately measure speed.

The VSS-in on a Volkswagen ECU or Speedometer requires 1hz per km/h input (100km/h = 100Hz input), on other vehicles such as the Ford Ranger, it's Speedometer requires 1.4Hz per km/h - this is another obsticle to over come involving additional and expensive signal processors. Like the CAN2DASH, at the push of a button you can adjust the speed input from .1 to 10 times so that just about any digital input speedometer will read accurately! There's no need to buy an aftermarket signal converter anymore!

Application Chart
Below is a chart of different engine codes and if their ECU has Check Engine, Tachometer etc signals. All International and all North American engines from 2004 and later engines require at least the CAN2LED to get a working check engine light - there is no other product on the market that will do this!
